Step 2: Head to Woodlands Train Checkpoint

Then, you can head to the Woodlands Train Checkpoint via MRT and bus. 

It only takes you a couple of MRT rides and a single bus trip to get to Woodlands Train Checkpoint bus station.

 

Here are some routes to consider:

Route #1: 

Head over to Marsiling MRT Station [NS8] (Red Line/North-South Line). 

From there, cross the road to take Bus No.856 or 950, which take you to Woodlands Train Checkpoint bus station.

 

Route #2:

Go to Kranji MRT Station [NS7] (Red Line/North-South Line).

Then, take Bus No. 911, 178, or 903, which brings you to Woodlands Train Checkpoint bus station.

 

Route #3: 

Make your way to Woodlands MRT Station [NS9] (Red Line/North-South Line).

Then, choose between Bus No. 178, 170A or 170. 

 

Step 3: Clear immigration & Customs Check

Once you arrive, you can get your tickets checked and go through both Singapore immigration and Malaysia immigration at Woodlands Train Checkpoint. They will check your bags via a scanning machine.

 

Step 4: Board the Shuttle Tebrau train from Woodlands Train Checkpoint to JB Sentral

After they check your bags and tickets, you can hop on the train and choose your seat. If the train is crowded, you might need to stand.

 

3. Singapore To Malaysia Ferry

If you wish to travel to Desaru, Malaysia, you can take a ferry from Singapore to Desaru!

Desaru is the only location in Malaysia where you can ride a ferry from Singapore. So if you plan on heading to Desaru, a ferry would be the best option!

You need to clear immigration and they will check your visa, passports, and ferry tickets. 

 

Step 4: Ride the ferry From Singapore To Malaysia

You have two options to choose from: to ride a ferry from Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal in Singapore to Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal or Tanjung Pengelih Ferry Terminal. 

 

Route 1: Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal To Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal

Ferry Schedule: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday (one trip only)
Ferry Timing: 8.30 am
Ferry Tickets: S$70 per adult (one-way) and S$108 (two-way), including surcharge and departure fees.
Ferry Duration: 1 hour and 30 minutes

 

Route 2: Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal To Tanjung Pengelih Ferry Terminal

Ferry Schedule: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (one trip only)
Ferry Timing: 10.40 am
Ferry Tickets: S$43 per adult (one-way) and S$73 (two-way), including surcharge and departure fees.
Ferry Duration: 45 minutes

 

Step 5:  Ride the Shuttle Bus From Ferry Terminal To Desaru Coast

Route 1: Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal To Desaru Coast

You can take the free 10-minute shuttle bus to Desaru Coast once you arrive at Desaru Coast Ferry Terminal.

But the buses follow a fixed schedule, so you need to check the bus schedule at the ferry terminal’s departure counter.

 

Route 2: Tanjung Pengelih Ferry Terminal To Desaru Coast

There’s a shuttle bus that will take you to Desaru Coast from Tanjung Pengelih Ferry Terminal in 35 minutes or less. 

 

4. Singapore To Malaysia Bus

If you are on a low budget and wish to travel around JB, taking a public bus from Singapore to Malaysia would be an ideal option!

On average, the entire journey from Singapore to JB Checkpoint will take around 1 to 4 hours.

Step 1: Ride any of the available buses to Woodlands Checkpoint

There are many public buses for you to choose from according to your preferred pick-up locations to head to Woodlands Checkpoint.

 

Step 2: Alight from the Bus To Clear Immigration at Woodlands Immigration Checkpoint

You need to clear immigration upon arriving at Woodlands Immigration Checkpoint.

 

Step 3: Ride the available buses to JB Checkpoint from Woodlands Checkpoint

Once you’ve cleared immigration, you can ride any bus that goes to JB Checkpoint.

 

However, if you choose to pay the full fare when heading to Woodlands Checkpoint, you can board the same bus you came with (applies to Transtar Bus or Causeway Link Bus).

Have your bus ticket (either digital or physical) prepared beforehand to show your bus driver.

 

Step 4: Check your passports at JB Checkpoints & you’re done!

Then, before entering Malaysia, your passports need to be checked. You may simply enter the electronic gate (e-gate) system without going through the manual process.

But for first-timers, you still need to queue up to get your passport stamped manually.

If it’s your first time, you need to complete the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) form.

Then, queue up and get your passport stamp manually. After that, you can enter the e-gate without the manual stamp for your next trip.

When you travel by bus to JB Checkpoint, you can expect for the journey to be around 1 hour during non-peak periods to 4 hours during peak periods. 

 

5. Singapore To Malaysia Coach

Planning to travel to other parts of Malaysia besides JB? Taking a coach instead of a public bus will be a great option for you!

There are plenty of bus operations for you to choose from, such as KKKL Express, Transtar Express, WTS Travel, Super Nice Grassland Express, and Starmart Express. Bus ticket prices range between SGD$25 to SGD$50. 

 

Why Go To Malaysia From Singapore By Coach 

• You can choose between a wide variety of bus operators.
• Travel in a fully air-conditioned vehicle.
• Some bus operators offer meals, beverages, or snacks, but the bus tickets are slightly higher.

Then, you have to clear immigration once you arrive at Woodlands Checkpoint. Make sure to bring your e-Pass which can be obtained through your email.

 

Step 3: Ride The Coach To JB Checkpoint From Woodlands Checkpoint

After clearing immigration at the Woodlands Checkpoint, you need to continue your journey towards the JB Checkpoint.

 

Step 4: Go through passport checks at JB Checkpoint

Then, at JB Checkpoint, you’re required to check your passports. You can skip the queue to get your passport manually stamped if you already filled up the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) form.

Once your passport gets verified, you can access the electronic gate (e-gate) system without going through the manual process.

 

Step 5: Ride The Coach & Head Towards Your Destination

After you clear immigration, you can ride the coach and head towards your destination in Malaysia!

 

6. Singapore To Malaysia Flight

Looking for the fastest way from Singapore to Malaysia? If you take a flight, it only takes you 1 hour!

However, this option is more expensive than the other travel methods. So if you have a bigger budget, you can consider a flight!

Step 1: Buy your flight tickets from your desired flight operator
